Want to be entertained? Enchanted? Educated? Empowered to battle life’s dragons? This tandem storytelling team shares myriad folktales, fairy tales, ghost stories and personal accounts with humor and insight for all ages and environments.
On the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Artists Roster since 2003 and the Mid-America Arts Alliance since 2006, Gene and Peggy performed at the 2005 National Storytelling Conference Regional Concert in Oklahoma City and were featured tellers for the 2010 Texas Storytelling Conference. In addition to schools, libraries, festivals, conferences and community events, they tell regularly at a federal prison and county jail, and weekly programs at a drug and alcohol treatment center. They have presented storytelling workshops for Richland College’s Emeritus program, Texas Storytelling Festival, Texas Storytelling Conference, and National Storytelling Conference.
With 30 years of storytelling experience and a PhD in entomology, Gene served on the Tejas Storytelling Association board for four years and was president in 2002. Peggy, who has a master’s degree in journalism and also works as a freelance writer, joined Gene on the professional storytelling stage in 1999. Both have served as president of the not-for-profit Dallas Storytelling Guild and are currently on the organization’s board of directors.
