Spirit of Oklahoma Storytelling Festival

Stories connect! Come join The Territory Tellers of Oklahoma at the 18th annual Spirit of Oklahoma Storytelling Festival on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8 at Rose State College, 6420 SE 15th Street, Midwest City OK 73110.

Adults and young adults (Age 16 or older) will connect to each other by telling and listening to stories throughout the event.

The festival will start on Friday at 6:00 PM as an informal gathering of people to meet, greet, and participate in story activities with other storytellers.

On Saturday, June 8, from 9:00 AM until 8:45 PM, continue to explore wonderful ways to enliven anything you are doing via the art of telling and listening to stories with the people around you. Starting at 9 AM, the Demonstration Workshop presenters will demonstrate 6 different styles and genres of stories. This will be followed by opportunities to listen and tell stories in an “open mike” type session called a story swap and at a lunchtime program called “Pails and Tales”. Further listening opportunities come in a story concert at 1:30 PM and a poetry concert at 2:40 PM.

The finale of the 18th annual Spirit of Oklahoma Storytelling Festival will be the Saturday evening concert at 6:30 PM featuring Fran Stallings, Eldrena Douma, Tony Hardman, Molly Lemmons, Valerie Kimble and Chester Weems. These outstanding storytellers are members of Territory Tellers.

Registration at the door is possible on Friday June 7 & Saturday, June 8. Admission to the festival will be $35.00. There is a limited supply of box lunches with drinks available for $15.00. For those who can only come to Saturday night’s concert or want to bring additional guests, tickets are $15.00 per person. The Territory Tellers of Oklahoma is a 501(c)(3) state-wide arts organization dedicated to keeping oral storytelling alive and thriving.
